I work for an airline so we've been lucky enough to travel a little more than the average. To that point, we seem to be experts at planning last minute trips. In this instance, the second we found the West-Inn hotel in the search function of a website we use often, we really wanted to be there. We have a young-one and the description and the reviews all confirmed this was a family friendly hotel. We called to make the reservation just a few days before our trip was to start and, unfortunately, they had just (merely minutes before) sold the last room they had on Saturday which was right in the middle of our trip and it wasn't going to work as well if we had to find someplace else. It was then, that the front desk (not an 800 reservation hotline in a random city elsewhere) recommended going on a waitlist or standby. As an airline employee, we're used to standby and we really hoped it would come together. AND IT DID. IN a funny quirk, another agent from the hotel called to ask us if we needed anything special or anything to make our stay better...at this time, we didn't know we had the reservation. AFter an awkward exchange of "...wait a minute...are you saying we got the hotel!!?" we both laughed and then I realized, No one's ever called to ask about what we needed from the hotel??? From that point on, this hotel, instantly, stood out above nearly all the other hotels we've ever visited. You'd expect that kind of service from a major chain that's wanting to woo your business, but this hotel - from start to finish - gave more of a mom-and-pop or family hotel-feel with a wonderful and brand new appearance. The staff - every one of them - was pleasant all the time, the cleaning staff were friendly and conversive, the breakfasts were MUCH MUCH better than any continental breakfast I've ever had. Don't get me wrong....don't expect a chef at every table making the perfect DEnver omelet for everyone, but they were the basics with a homemade feel. The staff was attentive, informative, well-prepared and accommodating. FAmily friendly (NOTE: and PET friendly) is an understatement. We asked to go to the beach and get maybe some blankets and a few beach toys for our little one... We got two backpack lounge chairs that were awesome! We're actually looking to buy some for home, we liked them so much. We also were given a beach umbrealla, a boogie board, and a bucket full of beach toys! we didn't need anything else! They provided a free shuttle to/from LegoLand which was a real time/money saver. PARKing at LL costs at least $15/day which saved us 30 bucks over 2 days. Nice van and they provide booster seats for those that need them...who does that!!? FIRst time I'd seen that. The pool was nice and the hottub was huge and a great conversation place for the adults. The complex was confusing at first. There's a Bistro West - High casual dining. A Steak/Seafood West - borderline black-tie...NOTE: They don't have a kids menu. And they have a GAS Station/Mini-Mart as well. You've got everything...a little weird with the gas station, but it all worked and provided a consistent style and cleanliness (impeccable) throughout. The rooms were spacious with two major sections (King Suite). ONe side, normal sized King bedroom. ONe side full size sitting area with couch, desk, sitting chair, large dorm fridge and sink and the couch was a pullout bed. Each section had a 40+" TV WITH a DVD player (2 TVs in one Room!) and additional SVideo and RCA hookups. You could basically hook-up any video device you bring with you AND they have a giant list of DVDs to just borrow...no fee...and it was full of recent selections. The bathroom didn't have a tub, but it didn't have to. The Shower was MASSIVE and well done. The bathroom wasn't large, but, the one sink vanity had room for two side-by-side and more towels than I've ever been provided in a hotel room! We put the Do Not Disturb sign out a couple of days, but they still left us sundries and additional amenities in a large wicker basket by our door each time. To summize: We Loved THis hotel...for everything from the amenities, the above and beyond service, the preparedness, the restaurant (BistroWest...we didn't go to the seafood/steak place, but it looked awesome and very well-attended) the location to the beach, the free hotel parking and free shuttle, the informative, attentive and caring staff and the breakfasts we looked forward to every day (another cost savings)! To the management and staff we commend you on your service and attention to detail. THAnk you, thank you, Thank you for making our stay uneventful, pleasant and a memory worth sharing. I don't think there was a loyalty program here, but we didn't need one...everyone in this hotel complex made everyone feel special and at home! Well done West-Inn...well done!
